THE TALK

Yep, I had the talk with Logan and Jordan today. I knew I was gonna do it within this next year and probably before school (5th grade) started. I was pretty sure they were clueless on the whole thing, and I was right. I was glad cuz I wanted to be the one who gave them all the correct information before they heard the wrong information or twisted information from clueless kids at school. We talked about sex, period, sexual abuse, all that stuff. I did it separately in case they had questions. I didn't want either to feel embarrassed to ask questions if the other was in the room. Jordan went first. She had a couple questions, but not a whole lot. I could tell by the look on her face that it was all so much to her. Next was Logan. She had the look of gross, shock and fear all in one most of the time. I don't think she enjoyed the conversation much! When we talked about sexual abuse, I told her that if someone touched her inappropriately and it didn't feel right to tell them NO! She responded with, "I would probably punch him in the face"! That's my girl! Logan was pretty much silent the whole time. At the end of the conversation with each, I gave them a gift from Ryan and I. It was a silver necklace with a circular charm with their name engraved on it and with their birthstone dangling on top of it. It was basically a keepsake and a reminder to always keep their body clean and safe and that Mom and Dad will always be here for them if they ever needed anything! I'm sure they are overwhelmed with the whole thing, but in the end, I hope they got the gist of it and that they know to come to us with questions and concerns in the future. Late future, hopefully!
