I Ran 10 Miles!

1/4 mile away from the finish line.

I RAN ALL 10!
All done, PHEW!

Well, last weekend was the 10 mile CRIM race in Flint, which is like 15 min. away. Anyways, I trained for it for about 6 or 7 weeks. I started to get burned out towards the last week before the race and thought to myself, man, I can't wait to get this race over with. I doubt I will ever do this again. Well, Saturday, race day, came along and I ended up loving it. There were 14,000 people in the race this year. Just before the race began, they played "Beat It", by Michael Jackson, which was great. I was so fired up and excited to get going. During the race, there were high school bands playing, people singing, people spraying their garden hoses on us, water and powerade stations, people passing out from heat exhaustion (SOOO hot and humid this day!)people handing out coffee shots, beer and donuts. People were along the side lines cheering us on the whole way! All of this, plus my I-Pod helped time go by fast and I did better than I thought I would. My goal this time around was to just finish and not walk. At mile 5 there are the Bradley Hills, which is 3 hills straight up and down right in a row...Killer! I didn't even walk those, which I was stoked about. I had a couple friends, Danette and Valerie in a couple places taking pictures and cheering. Thanks guys...so appreciated it! Once the race ended, I had so much fun that I told Ryan I am definately doing this again next year. LOVED IT! Next year I may try to train more for speed and time. I would like to break my record, which was 53rd place out of 501 people in my age group (30-34). My time was 1 hr. 25 min. and 20 sec. What a fun day! By the way, there are some great shots of me and the whole race on the following site. Go to www.crim.org
scroll to right side of page where it says 2008 crim festival of races. Click on that and then enter my number, which is 3214 or you can enter my name as well.

You did it! Running kind of gets in our blood especially the racing part. Not so much the training but I guess that has to go with it. I'm so happy you had a great time. I think your eyes were closed in all the pictures on the race website. But you always look good no matter what : )
