Okay, so since I have received a sewing machine, all I have made are baby blankets, bibs and burp clothes. I have been wanting to make a quilt, but just haven't had the guts or help. So, my friend Tirzah took me to the craft store to pick out some material and also gave me some brief lessons. Here is what I picked out... I also went to a craft night here with a few spouses and we made these magnetic picture boards. They were so much fun to make. I love to do these kind of things, but have no time for it! I will post my quilt when I get it done, which may take a while. Oh, also, my husband got inspired and thinks he can make a quilt as well. He wants to make a Boise State quilt. So we went and got his orange and blue material and some old BSU t-shirts to start the process. He thinks he knows exactly what to do, when he has never even touched a sewing machine. I will post his quilt when all finished as well. I will let you be the judge of who's comes out better. Mine better be the best or that would stink!

I love those magnetic boards! Will you please tell me how you made them. I would love to do some for my girls!! I got a sewing machine for Christmas too!! Way to inspire me to make something!
Take a trip to home depot and get wood. Cut out a 10X7in. board, and metal 7X5in. You can either paint the wood or paste scrap book paper on it. Hot glue ribbon on the top and bottom of metal. Then use decorative nails and flowers from JoAnns to nail in the corners of metal to the board. The names are from a gals Cricket machine (vynl lettering...sorry about the spelling) The magnets are made with glass balls, which I am not sure where you get those, then small magnets and your choice of paper glued on the back of the glass. Hopefully I didn't confuse you. It was fun to do and really easy.
Those are sooooooo cute!!! I wonder if I can do it?!? I might just have to try.
I love the colors and can't wait to see the finished products.
You can get the flat glass pieces from any silk flower section of any craft store. I have gotten them from Joanns, Michaels and Hoby Lobby.
Very cute. You definetly have to post some pics of Ryan quilting. He makes me laugh.
I want to go to your craft night! You need to share all the details...i'm talking regular tutorials here!
